This policy explains what information ChooseISP collects when you use this site, how we use it, and what rights you have. We've written this to be readable, not lawyerly.
Address lookups. When you enter an address to check internet availability, we send that address to the US Census Bureau Geocoder to obtain geographic coordinates. We receive the coordinates back and use them to query our provider database. We do not store your full street address in our database after the lookup is processed — we retain only the ZIP code and the lookup result (which providers were found) for analytics purposes.
Affiliate link clicks. When you click a provider link, we log the provider name, the link destination, a timestamp, and the referring ZIP code. We do not log your full address or any personally identifying information with this click event. This data helps us understand which providers people are most interested in and confirm that our affiliate tracking is functioning correctly.
Standard server logs. Like all web servers, ours automatically records IP addresses, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. These logs are used for security, debugging, and aggregate traffic analysis. We do not use them to build individual user profiles.
This site uses minimal cookies. We may set a session cookie to remember your most recent address lookup so results are preserved if you navigate away and return. We do not use cookies for cross-site tracking or advertising targeting.
If we add display advertising (such as Google AdSense), that advertising network may set its own cookies subject to its privacy policy. We will update this page if and when that occurs.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from using the lookup functionality, though your recent search may not be remembered.
The data we collect is used exclusively for:
US Census Bureau Geocoder. We send address data to geocoding.geo.census.gov for coordinate lookup. This is a US government API subject to the Census Bureau's own privacy practices.
Google Fonts. We load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers receive a request when you load a page. Google may log your IP address in accordance with their privacy policy.
Affiliate networks. When you click provider links, you may be redirected through an affiliate network (CJ Affiliate, FlexOffers). Those networks set their own tracking cookies for attribution. See each network's privacy policy for details.
Affiliate click logs are retained for up to 24 months for accounting and audit purposes. Server access logs are retained for 90 days. ZIP code lookup analytics are retained indefinitely in aggregate, anonymized form.
Because we collect minimal personal information (no accounts, no stored addresses), most privacy rights are already addressed by our data minimization practices. If you have questions about data we may hold related to your IP address or you wish to request deletion of any data we hold, contact us at privacy@chooseisp.com.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date below and, if changes are significant, note them prominently on the site. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
